I think I like the first drawing better than the second, especially because if your objective is to improve in capturing the proportions of the figure, in the second drawing you focused too much on the hair and the face instead of concentrating on the proportions and the shapes of the hands I think that drawing on larger paper would have helped you in the second drawing to do it with more ease.
