looks great! i love your lineart curious what pen you use to ink. i would advise blocking out shapes of the figure and drawing "through" to make sure everything lines up and proportionally works.

Yes, I generally use a thick brush to paint the skin tone first to create the outline.
You're right—the waist might have been a bit too narrow.
