I like the crosshatching you use for shading. I would recommend that next time you try adding shoulders, I have found that it helps show how the neck connects, which means that you will be able to draw more realistic necks, because you know how they would connect to shoulders. The reason I am saying this is because on the second image the neck seems too wide to attach to shoulders properly. I also love how you draw facial features and shading, keep practicing!
Mind Your Own Process
Great job on both, the one on the right is particularly strong with your use of value. I'd suggest in these short form portraits to include the clavicle notch. It gives great connection to the rest of the body without having to draw further.
