Brand new to Human Figure

by Pink Panther2043, March 16th 2026 © 2026 Pink Panther2043
Done as part of a 30 minute class. My current goal is: Improve at correctly capturing the overall proportions of the human form. I would like to know if I could start a course on skeleton and bones at this stage, or maybe do both things in parallel? Gesture sessions and anatomy/human bones? Thanks in advance for the tips.

Pink Panther2043,

Do you have a local library or college library near you? Sometimes, and more often than you think, you can check out a skeleton. Some of these are donated human remains for this exact purpose. Goolish? Yes, but very helpful.

While you are there, see if they have Robert Hales' Drawing From The Masters. It's probably one of the most returned books by artists for its exercises and one of the most recommended by a majority of professors for their college courses over the past 30+ years.

I hope this was helpful.

All of the best,
