October 7, 2025 6:06pm #39857Hello everyone! I just signed up for the apprentices membership! So I don't know what the rules are but I would like to introduce myself. I'm Scott! I've been an art student for 2 years back in 2017. I've gotten back into art about 3 months ago, either figure drawing, painting or working on an art project in some form or shape.
Anyways, I was wondering if someone would be able to view some of my art works and possibly give me advice or tips on how to improve. I usually draw everyday for about 30 minutes to an hour. I made a small google Presentation showing some gesture drawings, ranging from two minutes to five minutes. May contain nudity!!! Again, I'm not sure what the rules are, so it may contain Nudity. If I'm doing anything wrong please let me know and I'll fix it.

Thank you!
October 12, 2025 8:33pm #39880nice work so far and drawing everyday is a great idea. I would recommend to try drawing more loosely, including some 1m or 30 second gestures, and practice blocking in the masses of the head, torso, and hips first and working on getting them a) in the right proportions to each other, and b) in the right placement, as in thinking about the balance of the weight of the figure. think about a vertical line through the center of gravity of the figure, and would the head be to the left or right of that center of gravity, and how far? then same for torso and hips. also think about the position of the head over the hips.
In terms of getting more fluidity in your drawings i recommend looking up the Force method by Michael Mattesi.
One thing I see is that your upper body is generally too large in relation to the lower body (common mistake, i've been there), so keep learning to prioritize the overall shapes before smaller details (such as the specific shape of the hands and feet). good luck!1 1October 15, 2025 9:57pm #39886Great to have you here. It's awesome that you've gotten back into art and are dedicating time to it every day — that's how progress happens! I checked out your gesture drawings, and you're definitely on the right track. Your lines are expressive and your proportions are improving — keep practicing!Quote:Hello everyone! I just signed up for the apprentices membership! Thank you!
As for nudity, figure drawing is a fundamental part of learning anatomy and form, so you're good — just maybe add a quick “NSFW” note next time in the title or post as a heads-up. Looking forward to seeing more of your work!1October 18, 2025 8:59am #39891You could divide the body into more shapes, and integrate them in the 3d space, it will make anything more natural. To get the proportions right, that's only with time and practice.
Also, drawing loose will help you, and make your learning journey easier :)1
